FlexTally, the Wireless Tally Lamp System, New Firmware Update Adds Support for Wirecast and the Ability to Turn On/Off the Preview Indicator

Cerevo has released the latest FlexTally firmware (Windows Utility software ver 1.2.0, FlexTally Station Rev. 0029) with the following new features.

  • Added support for Wirecast.
  • Added the ability to turn off the preview indicator (green lamp) when the station unit is connected via Ethernet to a switcher.

●Support for “Wirecast” software switcher

Each FlexTally lamp can be set individually for each Wirecast shot. This should be useful for not only camera switching, but also for communicating cue timing for VTR and lower thirds to on-camera performers and staff.

●Turning on/off the preview indicator (green lamp) when the station unit is connected via Ethernet to a switcher.

With the latest FlexTally Utility software for Windows you now have the choice to turn on or turn off the preview indicator (green lamp) when FlexTally is connected via Ethernet to a supported switcher.

This feature gives you more choice when configuring FlexTally to use at your broadcasting location. For example, turn off the preview indicator if you only want to inform the on-camera performers about the on-air camera (red), or turn it on when you want to inform the camera operators about the preview status as before.

We will continue to update FlexTally to reflect the needs of our users and to make it more convenient and easier to use.

FlexTally

FlexTally is a tally lamp system that consists of one station unit connected to a video switcher and four lamps attached to each camera. One station unit can have up to eight lamps connected (sold separately). When shooting with multiple cameras, such as when recording live programs or live streaming, each FlexTally lamp automatically lights up according to the video switcher’s switching operations, helping the performer to recognize which camera is being used.

Please visit the product website for more information on FlexTally products.

Cerevo Dashboard Google Account Link Recovery Guide

Thank you for your continued support of Cerevo products and services.

As you may be aware, Cerevo’s Dashboard control panel used with the LiveShell series and LiveWedge devices experienced a failure of the Google Account linkage feature from 10th December 2019 to 8th May 2020.

If you have an existing Dashboard account and already linked your Google Account or broadcast to YouTube Live before December 2019, please follow the Recovery Procedure instructions below*1 *2

*1: The recovery procedure only needs to be performed one time to resolve the issue.
*2: Broadcasting using RTMP mode is possible regardless of this procedure.

Recovery Procedure for Google Account Linkage Feature and YouTube Live Broadcasting via Dashboard

If you meet the following conditions, please perform the recovery procedure below.

  • Have an existing Dashboard account
  • Broadcast to YouTube Live by linking a Google Account from Dashboard before December 2019.

Please perform the procedure before live streaming on any device associated with your account.

  2. Temporarily set the Broadcasting Service of all Live Shell series and LiveWedge devices linked to the account to RTSP server mode*3.

*3: If you cannot change the Broadcasting Service in Dashboard, you will need to re-initialize the device and re-register your Dashboard account. For details see Procedure When Re-linkage Does Not Workbelow.

  3. Click the Settings menu on the top right of Dashboard to open the settings screen.
  4. Select the Account Settings tab and then the Other services settings option.

Cerevo Dashboard Resolution of Google Account Linkage Failure Issue

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to users of our live streaming products due to the Dashboard Google Account linkage failure issue that occurred on December 10, 2019. However, we are pleased to report that the issue has now been resolved.

It is now again possible to log in and stream via YouTube Live using the Google Account linkage feature in Dashboard. For the recovery procedure, please refer to the Cerevo Dashboard Google Account Link Recovery Guide.

A detailed report of the issue and actions taken is as follows.

Issue Description

  • Can’t log in to Dashboard with a Google Account
  • Can’t log in to YouTube Live when linking a new Google Account from Dashboard

Effected Devices

  • LiveShell 2
  • LiveShell PRO
  • LiveShell X
  • LiveWedge

Issue First Occurred

10th December 2019 (JST)

Resolution Date

8th May 2020, 10:00am (JST)

Technical Details

In Dashboard, the Google Account linkage feature uses an API for logging into a user’s Google Account and connecting with YouTube Live, this API link had not been updated to conform to new guidelines set by Google and subsequently was disabled.

Resolution and Future Actions

In order for Dashboard to again use the API for logging into a user’s Google Account and connecting with YouTube Live, the API has been updated to conform to Google’s new guidelines. As every new API link has to be reviewed by Google before being approved for use this resulted in the issue taking considerable time to be resolved. We recognize that we should have been more proactive in updating the API link before it was disabled. We take this situation seriously and are reviewing our management and operation systems to ensure this does not happen again.

Together with the actions taken after the Dashboard connection failure that occurred in February 2020, we will further strengthen the maintenance and operation of Dashboard and related products for the continuous stable operation of our services.

Once again we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our users as a result of this issue.

For any additional questions, please contact the Cerevo Customer Support team at – support-global@cerevo.com.

Sincerely yours,
Cerevo Inc
