攻殻機動隊 S.A.C. TACHIKOMA ⅛ scale,
Movinging, Talking and Synchronizing, a smart toy replica from “Ghost in the Shell” now available for pre-order

Limited quantity of SPECIAL EDITION also available with crafted aluminum parts

Cerevo Inc., an Internet connected consumer electronics manufacturer headquartered in Tokyo Japan, announces that TACHIKOMA (Product name:攻殻機動隊 S.A.C. TACHIKOMA ⅛ scale Moving, Talking and Synchronizing) can be pre-ordered today and will be available for purchase in June 2017. Cerevo’s TACHIKOMA, a smart toy replica of the AI robotic weapons platform that appears in the animation “Ghost in the Shell” is fully mobile and can move around by it’s own robotic feet and wheels. Users can converse with it using the companion cloud-linked smartphone app.

TACHIKOMA is available for pre-order today at the Official Cerevo Store as well as Amazon.com for US$1,799.00, (SPECIAL EDITION US$ 1,999.00) and the product is currently scheduled to ship in June 2017.

TACHIKOMA 1/8 Scale
https://tachikoma.cerevo.com/en/

Cerevo’s ongoing project “S2R (From screen to the real world)” creates unique, real world connected versions of devices that appear in works of animation, games, movies, etc. TACHIKOMA is a product developed by Cerevo as its second step S2R. It is the first Ghost in the Shell product*1, with the perspective of the world of 攻殻機動隊 (Ghost in the Shell) S.A.C. that realizes electric mobility of each joint, pod, manipulator, and wheel. It features a speech recognition function that allows users to talk to TACHIKOMA in natural language, reproduces the “synchronization” ability between all other TACHIKOMA(s) and has a running function controlled via smartphone.

Every part such as each leg joint, both arms and pod can move autonomously
In total 21 motors are mounted in TACHIKOMA and they move autonomously according to conversations it has with the user. Not only each leg but also parts such as both arms, pod, image sensor, etc. will move. In addition, there is the option of operating TACHIKOMA via the companion smartphone application. Like the original, it can freely move by turning the running wheels on the bottom of each leg. Furthermore, by providing multiple action commands, it is possible to reproduce a variety of postures and a variety of emotional expressions that appear in the original anime by moving each leg joint or pod.

Sakiko Tamagawa‘s recorded voice can make the same conversation as the original
In order to make any answer theoretically possible like the original animation, 600 different responses from Sakiko Tamagawa, the voice-over actress of TACHIKOMAs in the original animation were recorded and combined with a voice recognition engine and voice synthesis engine. You can talk in the real world with TACHIKOMA who will then respond with the same voice as in anime, this is the function all fans have dreamed of, TACHIKOMA recognizes the spoken words and creates a suitable reply based on the question content. In addition to matters concerning the characters and keywords from the original anime, it is also possible to answer with everyday conversation such as “Good morning” or “I’m home”.

Connectivity to check weather forecast and schedule
TACHIKOMA has an Internet connectivity feature that tells users the weather forecast and their registered  Google Calendar schedule by asking TACHIKOMA. When asking TACHIKOMA “What is the schedule for today?”, it will answer with a synthesized voice based on Sakiko Tamagawa’s original, for example, “You will be meeting with Saito at 9:30!”.  When asking for words that you do not know such as “What is ◯◯?”, TACHIKOMA searches the internet and then answers* 2.

Synchronization is reproduced by object and speech recognition
One of the most important features of TACHIKOMA, is reproducing “parallelization” which is regarded as a very important function in the original anime. As in the original, each 1/8 TACHIKOMA is connected to the cloud (the Internet), when you show an object to the camera mounted in the image sensor part, the object recognition engine in the cloud recognizes the object.

For example, show an apple to TACHIKOMA and ask “What is this?”, it will answer “I know, it’s an apple isn’t it?” In addition, when user ”A” tells TACHIKOMA, “an apple is sweet”, TACHIKOMA understands this by using speech recognition technology and transmits the learned information “an apple is sweet” to the cloud, all other TACHIKOMAs then “synchronize” the information as new TACHIKOMA memories.

At a later date, if user ”B” shows an object that can be recognized as apple to TACHIKOMA, it says, “I know, it’s an apple right? An apple is sweet.” This means that all users receive the information that TACHIKOMA has learned via synchronization.

Metallic body SPECIAL EDITION
In commemoration of the release of 1/8 TACHIKOMA, Cerevo will release in limited quantities a SPECIAL EDITION which will use crafted aluminum parts for the bumper part and barrel cover part of the main body. The price for the SPECIAL EDITION is US$1999.00, and will be available to pre-order from 23rd March 2017 on the same day as the regular edition.

Update available for Tipron adding improved features

Update available for Tipron adding improved features

Cerevo has released updates for Tipron, a home robot that can automatically project an 80 inch screen from a distance of 3 meters.

Tipron
https://tipron.cerevo.com/

In this update, improved movement controls have been added to the Tipron app. Previously it was only possible to move Tipron in movement mode with the projector part folded, but now it is now possible to move with the projector unfolded. This allows you to move Tipron while projecting an image*1.

The accuracy of automatic keystone correction has been greatly improved, we also improved the UI of the application, and yaw/pitch operability. The Android version also implements improvements to reduce battery consumption.

New functions will be available by applying the latest firmware released today “Rev. 324”. iOS App 1.1.0 or above and Android app 0.13 or above are required to install the update.

※ 1 As a countermeasure against risks such as falling over of the main unit, when moving Tipron in projection mode, Tipron will move at the same speed as the slowest in movement mode.

We have also added and improved many other new functions.
For details of the update, please refer to the online manual –

Cerevo has released a comprehensive update for its entire range of LiveShell live streaming devices. LiveShell series top page
http://static-shell.cerevo.com/en/

For LiveShell X – New functions will be available by applying the latest firmware released today “Rev. 1037”. The main new functions added are as follows.

Multicast support
In RTSP mode when LiveShell X is being used as a streaming server, Multicast streaming is now supported in addition to conventional Unicast streaming.

TinyCon feature
This is a remote control function that allows LiveShell X to be configured without using Dashboard and can even be used when not connected to the Internet. This makes it possible to start and stop streaming, set image quality, streaming server details, etc. in local mode, where previously no remote controls were available.

Automatic control function
When LiveShell X delivers streaming video or audio to multiple channels, this function automatically implements operations on other channels. Start, stop and pause controls on one streaming channel are also reflected on other channels automatically.

MPEG-2 TS over UDP
LiveShell X now supports MPEG-2 TS/UDP transmission, both Unicast and Multicast can be used.

For current LiveShell series including LiveShell X  – Several more new functions have been added to Dashboard for LiveShell 2, PRO, X and LiveWedge. The main added functions are as follows.

Facebook Live: LiveShell 2, LiveShell PRO, LiveShell X, LiveWedge
We have added a special menu for Facebook Live that previously required setting up by choosing “Other streaming services”.

Lower thirds with frame: LiveShell, LiveShell 2, LiveShell PRO, LiveShell X, LiveWedge

A new caption function has been added to Dashboard, which allows framing of caption text. If the lower third is set with a transparent PNG file supported by LiveShell X, or the color of the background image and the color of the lower third are the same, visibility can be improved with outlined characters.

We have also added and improved many other new functions.

LiveShell X natively supports YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming (in beta)

27th February, 2017

LiveShell X natively supports YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming (in beta)
Cerevo provides an usage environment for “RICOH R”
currently under development by Ricoh

Cerevo, an Internet connected consumer electronics manufacturer based in Tokyo, Japan, expands the usage areas supported by its high end PC-less, full HD H.265 live streaming device, LiveShell X, by adding YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming. LiveShell X now supports in beta the fully spherical, 360-degree live video streaming camera RICOH R. The camera has just begun taking pre-orders today, with shipments scheduled to start in May 2017.

LiveShell X
https://s.cerevo.com/x

YouTube Live’s 360-degree live streaming is currently possible with the LiveShell series, but it is necessary to adjust advanced settings in the YouTube Live management service “live control room” as well as in the LiveShell series Dashboard. In the newly released beta version, YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming has been added to LiveShell X Dashboard using the YouTube Live API, so YouTube Live 360-degree streaming is now possible by simply selecting it in Dashboard.

At the Ricoh booth at Mobile World Congress 2017, to be held from 27th February in Barcelona, Spain, 360-degree live streaming using RICOH R and LiveShell X will be demonstrated via the beta version environment that has been developed. 360-degree live streaming for LiveShell X is scheduled to become available for public release this Spring.

Please see below for details of the RICOH R Development Kit and the demonstration at Mobile World Congress 2017.

Cerevo has released open source 3D model data for the frame mount and housing as the first “Hack RIDE-1” project, which will enable riders to use RIDE-1 with more diverse kinds of bicycles.

The files are in STL format and can be edited using 3D CAD software. The edited 3D models can then be printed with a 3D printer, enabling RIDE-1 to be used with unique shape bicycles or other vehicles that would previously have been incompatible.

Model data is provided as 3 different bike mount sizes with MIT licenses. They are designed to attach to the bicycle bottle cage just like RIDE-1’s standard mount. You can edit each mount to suit your needs and enjoy RIDE-1, it also possible to create original housing using the main housing model data. Please use according to CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.

Some of RIDE-1’s latest updates include –

  • Password reset feature
Have you ever forgotten your password and can not log in to RIDE-1 during your ride? A password reset function was added to its web service. Now you don’t need to worry about forgetting your password.

Update available for LiveShell series and Dashboard – new features added to LiveShell X

Cerevo has released a comprehensive update for its entire range of LiveShell live streaming devices. The update includes fixes for every LiveShell device and LiveShell X has added functions such as multi-streaming “play & stop” and displaying SD card recording capacity.

LiveShell X
https://s.cerevo.com/x

The update is available for all four LiveShell devices – LiveShell, LiveShell 2, LiveShell PRO and LiveShell X as well as LiveWedge.

Specific fixes and enhancements include –

  • For all devices, a fix for when connected to the Internet the device would show as offline in Dashboard and could not be operated.
  • For all devices except LiveShell, a vertical crop at 9:16 aspect ratio is available so that vertical video from smartphones can now be broadcast.

LiveShell X has been enhanced with new Dashboard functions in addition to the device update. Controls have been simplified so that a button which can start and stop multiple live streaming services at the same time is now available. This makes it unnecessary to open individual tabs of each streaming service to start and stop live streaming. In addition, we added streaming settings buttons for each streaming service tab which simplifies settings changes for each streaming service.

For LiveShell X recording functions, microSD card capacity will now be displayed when inserted into the main unit. Also, when a microSD card is not inserted and you try to perform a recording operation, you get an alert telling you that a card is not inserted.

In the Custom Settings screen for advanced configuration, text descriptions of streaming specifications and restrictions are now listed.

lsx_db_en02

The outline of the restrictions is as follows –

  • The resolution of channel 0 (the leftmost tab) is the same as the input image and can not be changed
  • Crop and aspect ratio can not be changed on channel 0
  • H.265 is effective only when streaming in recording or RTSP mode

Finally, streams not used in audio settings are displayed as grayed out so that you can see at a glance which stream you are using. For more details on each product, please see their online manuals –
