16th March 2017

Visualize your sports activity – REC-1, a sports camera with a small mountable companion sensor now available globally

Cerevo, an Internet connected consumer electronics manufacturer, is pleased to announce the global launch of REC-1, the newest member of its XON series of smart-sports devices. REC-1 is a full HD sports camera that is bundled with a small external sensor. The bundle will be available today for pre-order at the Official Cerevo Store for US$299/€299 (Incl.VAT), and the product is currently scheduled to ship in May.  Also the external sensor will be available separately as a single unit without REC-1 under the name LOG-1 for US$89/€99 (Incl.VAT) and is scheduled to ship in April. Both packages will be available on Amazon.com later this Spring.

https://xon.cerevo.com/en/rec-1/

Sports cameras that are compact and lightweight and can be attached to competitors and vehicles have become widespread in the last few years and have to be used in various sports and activities such as automobile racing, survival games, soccer and tennis. In addition, technologies for visualizing sports using data analysis are also being used in professional sports, data is acquired from sensors attached to athletes and sporting goods, not only for spectators and TV viewers, but also for athletes themselves to analyze and improve their performance.

We developed REC-1 with the aim of further visualizing sports through an interface that intuitively uses methods from the professional sports world, all at an affordable price range.

Also, in response to the need for comprehensive data collection, REC-1 is bundled with a mountable sensor outside the camera. When sensors are built into the camera body, the data that can be acquired is greatly affected by the installation location of the camera, so there is a possibility that the data acquired is not you originally required. By installing the camera in a position that captures human viewpoint such as on a helmet or goggles, then separately installing the sensor in a location such as a motorcycle wheel or car suspension, REC-1 can meet the needs of sports experts with precise data overlaid onto video.

REC-1_LOG-1_motorcyce_660

REC-1

REC-1 is a full HD sports camera equipped with Wi-Fi. In addition to shooting video at a maximum of 1080/60p and still images at up to 2304×1728 pixels, REC-1 can also stream video to a smartphone and start or stop recording remotely. So even if you attach it to a place which is difficult to reach, if you have a smartphone you can operate it remotely.

REC-1_front_660

Data such as speed, inclination and temperature are recorded by the external sensor. By connecting the camera and sensor to a PC, using our free dedicated software, you can superimpose the data acquired onto the captured video and easily create sports videos with the captured data. In addition, we plan to integrate other XON series products such as RIDE-1 and ORBITREC with the movie data.

Alongside IPX4 equivalent water-resistance, REC-1 is equipped with a physical slide type switch to easily start recording while wearing gloves and a tubular body suitable for mounting on bikes and bicycles. The battery can be removed and exchanged while REC-1 is mounted and with built-in GPS, you can record routes and speed data even without using the external sensor.

REC-1_battery_660

LOG-1

LOG-1 is a compact sensor device with 6-axes (acceleration / angular velocity), temperature, pressure and magnetism sensors and has an IPX4 equivalent waterproof rating for use in a variety weather conditions just like REC-1. LOG-1 has a tripod hole on the bottom of the main unit and can be attached to various sports devices using the bundled mounting tool or to a camera using commercially available camera mounts. LOG-1 can also be fixed to individual competitors using the included belt attachment.

LOG-1_front_660

By attaching the enclosed magnet to a rotating object such as a wheel and using the magnetic sensor of LOG-1, you can acquire the rotational speed of a bicycle crank, car tire and more. The magnetic sensor can switch between cycle acquisition mode and state acquisition mode. So it is also possible to acquire on/off information on physical switches that is difficult to acquire with an acceleration sensor alone.

LOG-1_-magnet_660

The main body of LOG-1 measures an extremely compact 40×55×12 mm and weighs only 28 grams, meaning it can easily be attached to various sports equipment. Using CR2032 batteries results in a long battery life of more than 19 hours of continuous use and easy replaceability. Because LOG-1 can keep recording data for multiple days on a single battery, you do not need to remove or install new batteries or turn on/off power, even for sports competitions that take place over several days.

By connecting camera and sensor to a PC, using our free dedicated software, you can superimpose the data acquired on the captured video and easily create sports video with the captured data.

In addition to REC-1, data from LOG-1 can be combined with movies shot with other companies camera’s (operation confirmed with GoPro series, Sony Action Cam and iPhone). Also, it is possible to overlay data acquired by multiple LOG-1s onto one movie.

Update available for Tipron adding improved features

Update available for Tipron adding improved features

Cerevo has released updates for Tipron, a home robot that can automatically project an 80 inch screen from a distance of 3 meters.

Tipron
https://tipron.cerevo.com/

In this update, improved movement controls have been added to the Tipron app. Previously it was only possible to move Tipron in movement mode with the projector part folded, but now it is now possible to move with the projector unfolded. This allows you to move Tipron while projecting an image*1.

The accuracy of automatic keystone correction has been greatly improved, we also improved the UI of the application, and yaw/pitch operability. The Android version also implements improvements to reduce battery consumption.

New functions will be available by applying the latest firmware released today “Rev. 324”. iOS App 1.1.0 or above and Android app 0.13 or above are required to install the update.

※ 1 As a countermeasure against risks such as falling over of the main unit, when moving Tipron in projection mode, Tipron will move at the same speed as the slowest in movement mode.

We have also added and improved many other new functions.

TinyCon feature

MPEG-2 TS over UDP
LiveShell X now supports MPEG-2 TS/UDP transmission, both Unicast and Multicast can be used.

For current LiveShell series including LiveShell X  – Several more new functions have been added to Dashboard for LiveShell 2, PRO, X and LiveWedge. The main added functions are as follows.

LiveShell X natively supports YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming (in beta)

27th February, 2017

Cerevo provides an usage environment for “RICOH R”
currently under development by Ricoh

Cerevo, an Internet connected consumer electronics manufacturer based in Tokyo, Japan, expands the usage areas supported by its high end PC-less, full HD H.265 live streaming device, LiveShell X, by adding YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming. LiveShell X

YouTube Live’s 360-degree live streaming is currently possible with the LiveShell series, but it is necessary to adjust advanced settings in the YouTube Live management service “live control room” as well as in the LiveShell series Dashboard. In the newly released beta version, YouTube Live 360-degree live streaming has been added to LiveShell X Dashboard using the YouTube Live API, so YouTube Live 360-degree streaming is now possible by simply selecting it in Dashboard.

At the Ricoh booth at Mobile World Congress 2017, to be held from 27th February in Barcelona, Spain, 360-degree live streaming using RICOH R and LiveShell X will be demonstrated via the beta version environment that has been developed. 360-degree live streaming for LiveShell X is scheduled to become available for public release this Spring.

Please see below for details of the RICOH R Development Kit and the demonstration at Mobile World Congress 2017.

Open source versions of RIDE-1 frame mount and housing 3D model data have been released

Cerevo has released open source 3D model data for the frame mount and housing as the first “Hack RIDE-1” project, which will enable riders to use RIDE-1 with more diverse kinds of bicycles.

The files are in STL format and can be edited using 3D CAD software. The edited 3D models can then be printed with a 3D printer, enabling RIDE-1 to be used with unique shape bicycles or other vehicles that would previously have been incompatible.

Model data is provided as 3 different bike mount sizes with MIT licenses. They are designed to attach to the bicycle bottle cage just like RIDE-1’s standard mount. You can edit each mount to suit your needs and enjoy RIDE-1, it also possible to create original housing using the main housing model data. Please use according to CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.

Some of RIDE-1’s latest updates include –

  • Password reset feature
Have you ever forgotten your password and can not log in to RIDE-1 during your ride? A password reset function was added to its web service. Now you don’t need to worry about forgetting your password.
  • Improved usability of activity display screen

When manipulating the map on the screen, the scale changed or scrolled automatically. This is now fixed in the latest update.

*Improvements on usability are carried out irregularly.

We are planning to update the following features in the coming weeks –

  • Improving activity synchronization speed
  • Improving activity display
  • Complying with ANT + Bicycle Power profile

When speaking to Lumigent, it recognizes words and automatically performs actions such as lighting and transformation. The main body has a movable axis with four-degree-freedom, and when not in use, it waits in a folded space-saving state. When the user calls “Hi Lumi, Turn on”, the light lights up at the optimum position set in advance without needing to operate the main unit or the smartphone application.

Lumigent is equipped with Wi-Fi and an autofocus 8 megapixel camera. The user can automatically capture documents and objects on their desk and save them on a microSD or cloud via Wi-Fi. Users can operate Lumigent’s camera with only their voice and there is no need to operate the main unit. This freedom allows the user to take pictures or videos with both hands working or of themselves pointing with a finger or pen. Lumigent’s camera can capture still images and videos, as well as time lapse images.

Lumigent has a Micro USB terminal and can be used as an 8 megapixel web camera when connected to a PC with a USB cable. Simply talk to Lumigent before starting a video conference or call and it will automatically move the camera from the position used for lighting, to the optimum angle for video calls. Ethernet connectivity is available as an option.

Cerevo is also pleased to announce that it has been named as a CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Home Appliances product category for Lumigent. This is the third consecutive year Cerevo has received an Innovation Award at CES, winning in 2015 for LiveWedge and in 2016 for ORBITREC.
